Bill Gates COVID vaccine microchip theory

The microchip claim emerged in spring 2020 as COVID-19 vaccine development accelerated. It conflated three separate Gates-funded research items: a 2019 MIT project on quantum-dot dye tattoos to record vaccination status in low-resource settings, a Gates Foundation patent (WO/2020/060606) on cryptocurrency mining via body activity data, and Gates' March 2020 Reddit AMA comment about 'digital certificates' for vaccination status.

A May 2020 YouGov poll found 28% of Americans believed Gates wanted to use vaccines to implant microchips. The actual mRNA vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna contain no electronics; the lipid nanoparticles are 80 nanometers, far below the size of any tracking circuit.

The theory was amplified by InfoWars, Robert F Kennedy Jr's Children's Health Defense, and David Icke.
