Trump as Q (QAnon)

QAnon began on the 4chan board /pol/ in October 2017 with anonymous posts signed 'Q', claiming insider knowledge of a coming mass arrest event ('the Storm') in which Donald Trump would unmask and prosecute a global cabal of elite child traffickers. Subsequent posts moved to 8chan and then 8kun.

QAnon absorbed and rebranded older Pizzagate claims, anti-Clinton narratives, and elements of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The FBI designated QAnon a domestic terrorism threat in 2019. Adherents were prominent in the January 6 2021 Capitol attack.

Trump himself amplified QAnon-adjacent accounts on Truth Social and declined to disavow the movement when asked directly, while never explicitly claiming to be Q.
